Sauce Boss’s saga began on July 2, 2025, right as he was being unloaded at the Snowmass Village rodeo grounds. He wasn’t at all interested in performing, he found a gap in the temporary fence, slipped through, and vanished into the dense brush near the upscale Horse Ranch neighborhood, leaving handlers stunned. In that moment, a simple unloading became a bold escape. Authorities quickly issued alerts asking residents to avoid the area and not approach the bull. The dense brush and his sheltered position turned into an unexpected ally, allowing him to remain hidden. Instead of the roar of the rodeo crowd, he found silence and seclusion.

For five days, Sauce Boss blended seamlessly into his surroundings, becoming part of the landscape. He plunged into tall brush and trees surrounding the Horse Ranch area, where he’d occasionally peek into sight before melting back into shadows. One homeowner even spotted him by chance, sparking a flurry of tips to authorities. During this time, the public was reminded to steer clear and to keep pets indoors as efforts intensified. A roping attempt had him briefly caught, but he slipped free during heavy rain.

Most media outlets, including CBS Colorado, referred to the fugitive as “Sauce Boss.” But Snowmass police officer Zach Wilcher told Cowboy State Daily that he’d heard the bull was called “Twinkle Toes”. It’s still unclear which is correct or if one was simply a playful alias. The dual identity added to the tale: internet commenters joked about his celebrity status. Was he Sauce Boss, the fierce-willed rodeo bull? Or Twinkle Toes, the nimble escape artist?

As Sauce Boss remained at large, the spotlight stayed hot. Cowboys mounting horses continued search efforts, but the camouflage of nature kept him one step ahead. By July 4, they believed he was hiding deeper in the brush not near houses and reminded residents to stay cautious  Coyotes aside, the community followed updates with a mix of concern and amusement. Social media especially around Independence Day buzzed. One local joked he was “living his best life,” and others cheered on his survival instincts. It became less of a crisis and more of a communal mascot moment.

On Sunday, July 6, cowboys finally coaxed Sauce Boss out of hiding. After days of retreating into the woods, he stepped into view and was gently rope-horse escorted back to the rodeo grounds. Handlers credited improved weather and the bull’s own decision to end the adventure. Once recaptured, social media lit up with relief and praise. Comments ranged from laughter to admiration for his stealthy Houdini-style run. The story closed with a scene: Sauce Boss, safely back, being prepared for his rodeo debut, an ending both dramatic and fitting for a bull who chose freedom over performance.
